COVID-19 Update

April 11, 2023

Residents, families and friends:

Please see visit the link below to read about the updates to infection control policies and procedures as it relates to COVID-19 in our setting:

CDPH Updates COVID-19 Guidance and Reminds Californians Vaccines, Testing and Treatment Remain Available

As a short summary:

Masking in high-risk and health care settings
Beginning April 3, masks will no longer be required in indoor high-risk and health care settings. This includes health care, long-term care, and correctional facilities as well as homeless, emergency, and warming and cooling centers. This change allows local health departments and individual health care facilities to develop and implement plans customized to their needs, and local conditions to continue to protect Californians through the end of the winter virus season. CDPH’s recommendations for the use of face masks for individuals remain unchanged. See masking guidance.

Vaccine requirements for health care workers
Beginning April 3, with federal rules continuing to ensure that most health care workers remain vaccinated for COVID-19, the state will no longer require vaccination for health care workers, including those in adult care, direct care, correctional facilities, and detention centers. This change allows local health departments and facilities to develop and implement plans customized to their needs and local conditions to continue to protect Californians through the end of the winter virus season.
Reduced isolation time after positive COVID-19 test

Beginning March 13, a COVID-19 positive person may end isolation after five days if they feel well, have improving symptoms, and are fever-free for 24 hours, with less emphasis on testing negative. This change aligns with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations.

Disease control and prevention order
The state public health officer order formerly known as “Beyond the Blueprint” is being updated to align with CDPH’s isolation and quarantine recommendations above and includes an updated definition for a confirmed COVID-19 case. The updated order, which will take effect March 13, provides prevention and mitigation strategies for slowing the spread of COVID-19 in homes, workplaces, and communities.

Vaccine data collection
Also being rescinded on April 3 is an order that required providers to ask patients for their email addresses and/or mobile phone numbers when receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. New legislation requires that California healthcare providers who administer vaccines to enter information about patients, including telephone numbers and race and ethnicity.

COVID-19 Status Update

June 15, 2022

Residents, families and friends,

Since we last spoke, we have had no confirmation of a COVID+ resident. We are continuing to follow public health guidance and policies for infection control. The state released an updated All Facilities Letter which can be found here:

https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CHCQ/LCP/Pages/AFL-22-13.aspx

One update of concern relates to newly admitted residents, or residents returning to the facility after a >24 hour absence, who must be tested upon admission and intermittently until the 14th day from admission. In addition, all residents eligible for a booster shot (1 or 2) will now only be considered fully vaccinated if said booster has been received. All visitation policies and procedures remain in place, please read through the article or call us for any questions. In accordance with Public Health, we still requiring all staff and visitors in patient areas to wear a N-95 respirator and eye protection/face shield due to the high positivity rate in Ventura County (over 12%).

We appreciate your continued support and will continue to communicate if our situation changes.

All the best!

Your Camarillo Healthcare Center Leadership Team

COVID-19 Status Update

June 2, 2022

Residents, families and friends,

We wanted to keep you updated regarding the current COVID situation in the facility. It has been over a week since our last COVID+ staff member or resident. All COVID+ residents or staff members are fully recovered and are doing well. We remain to have one COVID+ resident in our designated red zone who will be cleared to return to the green zone by the end of the week.

There have been many questions regarding visitation, required response testing and PPE etc. For your reference, the link below will explain the current guidance we are to follow in the event of a COVID+ case in the facility.

Please call with any questions and thank you for your continued support.

Your Camarillo Healthcare Center Leadership Team

COVID-19 Status Update

May 17, 2022

Residents, families and friends:

This is to notify you of the overall status of our facility as it relates to COVID-19. If your loved one was exposed to a positive staff member or resident, they have been response tested. Should your loved one start to exhibit COVID-like symptoms, they will be monitored by the nurse and tested if needed. Should your loved one test positive for COVID-19, you will be notified immediately along with the attending physician and the resident will be transferred to the red zone. When a resident tests positive for COVID-19, they are to remain in the red zone for 10 days from the date of their positive test. At this point, we have 25 residents in the red zone who are doing well with mild to no symptoms and 19 positive staff members, the majority of whom are asymptomatic and have returned to work in the red zone.

We have currently suspended all communal dining and activities. The state mandates that we continue allowing visitation for all residents, regardless of if they’re in the green, yellow or red zone. All visitors must check in at the front desk to review the COVID-19 attestation questionnaire and, depending on the zone, be equipped with the proper PPE.

We are appreciative of your continued thoughts, prayer and support. We want to assure you that the current situation is much different than in years past: we have infection control best practices as it relates specifically to the virus, 90%+ of our staff and residents have been fully vaccinated, PPE and other necessary equipment is readily available etc. We will continue to notify you as updates become available.

Regards,

The Camarillo Healthcare Center Leadership Team

COVID-19 Exposure

April 27, 2022

Residents, families and friends,

Unfortunately we’ve had a staff member test COVID+ this morning.  We are working with Public Health to take the appropriate actions related to response testing and quarantining.  If you did not receive a phone call specifically stating that your family member or loved one was exposed to the COVID+ resident then your family member or loved one was not exposed.

Please call for any additional questions you may have.

RE: New Visitation Guidance

Dearest Resident Family Members and Visitors-

The State of California – Health and Human Services Agency, California Department of Public Health released new guidance about visitation in Nursing Homes on August 5th, 2021. Listed below is a basic breakdown of how the visitation requirements have changed for indoor visitation:

  • Visitors must provide evidence of completed vaccination, or
  • For unvaccinated or incompletely vaccinated visitors, verify documentation of a negative SARS-CoV-2 test within 72 hours of the visit.
  • Only the following documents will be accepted as proof of vaccination:
    •  COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or WHO Yellow Card) which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date last dose administered); OR
    • A photo of a Vaccination Record Card as a separate document; OR
    • A photo of the client’s Vaccination Record Card stored on a phone or electronic device, OR
    • Documentation of COVID-19 vaccination from a health care provider; OR
    • Digital record that includes a QR code that when scanned by a SMART Health Card reader displays to the reader client name, date of birth, vaccine dates and vaccine type.

All visitors, regardless of vaccination status or test results, must:

  • Wear a well-fitting face mask (a surgical mask) upon entry and at all times within the facility;
  • Wear any other personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the patient’s room that facility personnel deem appropriate to the situation; and
  • Physically distance from health care personnel and other patients/residents/visitors that aren’t part of their group at all times while in the facility.

For your information:

  • Unvaccinated staff must undergo twice a week SARS-CoV-2 testing and wear a N95 face mask.
  • Unvaccinated residents are placed in a designated quarantine area upon admission or return for a 24+ absence from the facility and upon completion of a 14 day observation period, they are discharged from the quarantine area and placed in the general population.
  • Unvaccinated residents who require dialysis require weekly SARS-CoV-2 testing.

The facility appreciates your understanding and compliance as COVID gains momentum in our community. These practices have been put in place to not only protect your loved ones but for your safety as well.

Sincerely,

Logan Cooley

COVID-19 Outbreak Update

February 19, 2021

RE: COVID-19 Outbreak Update

Dearest families and friends,

I am happy to inform you all that Camarillo Healthcare Center is officially out of “outbreak”. In light of this, we are getting back to communal dining, rehab in the gym, use of common spaces, communal activities, and visitation! Having said this, we are still working closely with our local health department and these guidelines can change at any time. Our current county positivity rates are declining each week, so we anticipate that this trend will continue help keep another outbreak at bay. Our staff will continue to be tested at least once per week until the foreseeable future.
